Tiger Eye is a variety of quartz formed through the pseudomorphic replacement of crocidolite fibres by silica, preserving its fibrous structure. This results in its characteristic chatoyancy—a reflective, moving band of light across the surface.
It is primarily sourced from South Africa, along with Australia, India, and Namibia. While relatively abundant, stones with strong, well-defined shimmer and rich colour contrast are especially valued.
